Exercise, magnesium, lots of electrolytes (gatorade mainly), bananas, tons of water! My doctor also recommended tonic water for the quanine.
Rose48,
I use tramadol for leg cramps. I had to start out at a very low dosage and build up, but it worked for me. I take 2 .50mgs per day and have not had a cramp or spasm in 3 years and have not had to increase the dosage.
I sympathize with you. For about a year every night I would pray that I would not wake up the next morning. When that obviously did not work I changed my mantra to tomorrow will be a better day. It's been very slow, but it is getting better.
I will include Rose48 in my mantra.

Well, that would depend on what is causing them to start with. You could be deficient in iron, magnesium, or Vitamin D3. You would have to have labs drawn to figure out which one (if any) you are deficient in. For me personally, I take valium b/c my legs have spasticity in them which then leads to them drawing up and cramping.
You are absolutely right Sunshine. All my labs are fine and I take a B Complex and 5,000 IUs of D3 daily. Why tramadol works for me is a mystery. If I forget a dose the spasms come back. I'm not recommending it for anyone else, just telling what works for me. I'm happy you have found something that works for you.
