# Long term Ventilators, how does it work?

After 9 months and still very little recovery, doctors are considering putting him on a long term ventilator. Would he be able to talk? what are his chances of at least a recovery to such a degree that he will be able to help himself?? 9 Months and still on a ventilator? I am living in South Africa, and he is in Canada, so communication is very difficult. I must rely on news from bystanders...

cant talk with a ventalator,even a trachostomy,the longer your on a machine the longer it will take to get him off,with my wife i have to learn to lip read
