Pushing time between IVIG

So far, so good. Only one poke per visit. I have been going every 21 days now for one year and veins still holding up. I don't know how long I will be so lucky...when they start failing then I will think about a port. Hopefully I can keep them good for a long...long...LONG time.

Jane, I spoke with my insurance co & they are going to arrange for me to have treatment @ home. I was just wondering, since you work, if you could get treatment at home? Jo

Hi Jo,

Yes, I could get treatment at home but I would have to pay 20% of the total cost. The infusions are running around $10,000 each time so that means I would be responsible for $2,000 each time. I would probably hit my out of pocket maximum after a few months but still, that is $6,000.00 I could use towards something like a house improvement. So at this point I am not willing to pay the 20% so I am stuck with going to the UofM every 21 days. Oh well.

Good luck with your infusions. Remember to drink LOTS of water the day before, during, and the day after the infusion. If I don't get REALLY hydrated I end up with a horrible headache that lasts for days.
