Signs of Recovery

Hello all again!

Here's the latest update on my brother' condition. Finally, he has started (slow) walking on his own. We have been taking him outside to the malls and other places and he walks on his own. He also has started doing all of his normal stuff including eating all the regular food. I, however, still make him to eat medjoul dates with cold organic milk (natrel organic milk).

The neurologist also saw him a week ago and was pleasantly surprised over his speedy recovery. Looks like I reached my goal few days earlier.

My next goals will be to send him to country side places, living in cottages, and fishing where he can expose himself to dirt and bacterias. I want his immune system to learn to differentiate between good and bad bacterias/viruses. I also would put him on organic non-homogenized buffalo milk if I can find a place that will sell it here in Toronto.

Anyway, I wish you all happy holidays and seasons' greetings!

I just saw your update..i'm new to this site and still learning how to navigate :) I'm so happy that your brother is on a speedy path! YAY!!!! And you are so right about the bacteria...so many people don't ever get answers and after research I learned that myself. So glad to hear you are helping him in his path to recovery. Happy Holidays!

Alright everyone. Here is (probably) final update on my brother's condition. He is 99% cured. It has been a year and few weeks since when he was diagnosed with GBS. With so much efforts, therapies, and diet, he is 99% recovered. He has starting running (yes running) and jogging on his own with no support. Doing weight lifting and all regular work. The only problem that doesn't appear to be going away is occasional tingling in his feet 2 or 3 times a month. Other than that he is totally normal.

I wish you all suffering from this horrible condition a speedy recovery.

Is he able to feel any pain in the legs at all. I was diagnosis in October 2015. I have all my sensory nerves but my legs are still weak. I just had another Ivig done 3 weeks ago. I can feel everything on the inside but numb from the waist down on the outside. I heard when the nerves are regenerating you feel lots of pain.

Thanks everyone. He’s now in his 5th week & his condition is now deteriorating. He is totally paralyzed, can’t feel his legs at all. However, he is feeling a lot of burning sensation on his face & zapping. He also is having a lot of stabbing pain on random body parts. Is this normal?

I was diagnosis in 2014 in October. Sorry about typo.

When did he get rid of the double vision?

This is amazing and it gave me so much hope. I was diagnosed on March 5 and have been still in hospital after 2 IVIG and a course of steroids. I had the same symptoms of your brother but i sm recovering and I am walking with the elbow crutch. I will try the diet you suggested. I hope it helps.

Lots of live,

Alya

It has been 9 months for me today. I still can’t walk. I am in a lot of pain. I got GBS from the waist down. All my upper strength is perfect praise God. Have you heard when the nerves are regenerating you are in a lot of pain. I am asking God for a miracle. The pain is so severe especially at night. I take GabapentinI for the nerve pain. I only take one a day which is 100 mg. I don’t like taking a lot of medication. I was only in the hospital for 10 days. I would not wish this upon anyone. I call it torture. I no tha With God all things are possible. I will not give up because I plan to get up. I pray I will be up real soon. Every day is a different day. I am getting stronger but my legs are still weak. God’s timing is always perfect. Stay strong and keep the faith.

Naveed,

I also dealt with double vision, the best advice is to see a developmental optometrist that deals with neurological symptoms. My double vision went away after a few months, with my Drs simple help… scotch tape. Yes, you heard me right, Double tapes towards the nose on the eyeglasses and I saw single again, then 2mos later,
tape only on one eye, then 2 mos later, tape off and no double vision.
