Seems we all take them, at least occasionally, do you have one that works best for you?

It used to be a vodka martini, or sex on the beach, but these days it comes in a different kind of bottle, a medicine bottle and it's called Zanaflex. How about you?

I never taken any! What are some that you guys have taken, how do they help? Ok guys...thought I would share this with you...

Went out for dinner with a few of my girlfriends from our old work, once every 2-3 months we do this, its nice! One of them is battling Stage 4 cancer in her leg and is in constant pain and has trouble walking. I am very close to this particular friend...I pick her up all the time on these outings...long story short...Throughout the entire evening I was so concerned about her falling that I jinked myself! Ok ready everyone, so we left the restaurant and it was FREEZING but during the day it was sunny and -1 (WOW) which is warm for us compared to previous temps out her. I unlock the car, she gets in, I decide to place my purse and some food in a doggie bag in the back seat. I try to open the door, it wasn't opening, I tried with a bit more strength, doesn't the entire handle crack off and I go flying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I couldn't even get up, I was in shock which is not good for us CMT'ers, nerves start to take over! Mary didn't know where the heck I was cause I was on the ground with the car handle in my hand.

What I am trying to say is that I didn't need more aches and pains in my body, I am already suffering a back issue due to nerve thickening, scoliosis, and my L4 & L5 are fused (congenital)! I have tried everything to try and heal this nerve thickening. Everyday is different, some days better than others. Then this had to happen. What I am getting at is, how do these muscle relaxants work?????

l like Valium but most Dr won't give it. l have a script for Robaxin, but it does not work that well.

l took .25 of Clonazapam and l get great relief and sleep with it. So need to go to Dr to ask for something that may work.

l am seeing a new neuro this week. Hopefully some new answers without a ton of testing.

I usually take a hot shower. Crawl into bed with my Ipad and headphone. Find some relaxation videos on youtube. Every once in a while I have to add a couple mg of valium. I don't like too but it is the only way I can sleep. I can't take any ind of major pain meds. narcotics whatever.

Kava is a root found in the south pacific which Polynesians use as a mild intoxicant.

It is hard on the liver and can give headaches afterward.

Wow Carm, bet this is the very last thing you ever expected! Talk about lousy luck! I bet you could most certainly use some muscle relaxants right about now! You have my sympathies, and I hope you can recover quickly! I guess the cold weather did this to the door knob! I heard on the weather channel that we haven't had this much February snow since 1958! We are to get more snow and ice tonight through tomorrow, I can hardly wait!

I'm not familiar with Kava either, but here's a link. Eric's right about hard on the liver, and not to be taken if pregnant or nursing!

Goodnight SK

Hi Carm,

I'm in Maryland, it's just about 70 miles W of Washington DC. We are to get 6-8 inches or more tonight and my neck and back have been pounding all day from low barometric pressure!

We were like mother Hubbard here and a bunch of the grand kids are coming for the weekend, so mom and I went for groceries and dragged 15 bags plus of food home! 'Bout did us in! I just about went down on the ice today, right by the car, thought of grabbing the handle, and then thought of you flying through the air, with door knob in hand! Good Golly girl, I hope you heal up quickly!

I hear you, the beach has been calling my name for months now! I would love to go bake in the sun somewhere WARM!

OMG, good thing girlfriend that I told that story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would be nice to meet up eh! I'm looking at prices for Cuba Easter long weekend...my oldest son who is in High School doesn't want to miss 4 days of school! That's a change, he says if he misses 4 days of Science he's done! OMG...I told him I would talk to his teachers to get a feel of "what if" he misses 4 days. I WANNA GO SO BADLY, my body needs sun, and to do nothing. Just lay on the beach and soak in the rays sipping on drinks! Oh and not to mention, the sounds of the ocean!!!!!

I cannot believe the warm weather we are having all of the sudden, Wednesday is predicted to be 61 F, which is a big change from -40 wind chill!

Now this is certainly not beach weather, but I'll gladly take it.

Hope the rest of you are thawing out too!
