GBS and Shaky Hands

Hi

I am a new member and was delighted to received such a warm welcome - Thank you! I am GBS survivor and almost a year down the line I am blessed to be on the road to recovery. I still have side effects, one of which is "shaky hands" do any other GBS patients have this problem and is it a common side effect with GBS? Thanks. Wishing you all a blessed and happy day.

Hello

Yes I have had Tremors in both hands from the start which was in October 2013 and same continues today. I was told by my doctors this may or may not go away, only time will tell. Good luck

Thank you very much for your response Jim. Yes both my hands are very shaky at times. It is nice to know I am not alone with hand tremors related to GBS, I thought it might not be related. When did your GBS start and when did the hand tremors start? I wish you well and great blessings through to full recovery.

My symptons started in October 2013 and continue today. Tremors were from the start and became worse. They remain along with leg weakness and foot drop. As everyone says we all get it different so hang in there.

Thanks Jim much appreciated. Yes I do understand we are all have different symptoms, side effects etc. I have learnt to count every blessing. You hang in there too, one day at a time as we stand positive and continue to full recovery. Take care.

I'm about 14 months since my GBS. No shakey hands here but my feet are still a little numb and my left leg is a little weak.

Thank you Spencer. I wish you well and many blessings for a full recovery.

I am almost 10 months out from diagnosis, and I still get tremors in my arms and my legs. Not so much my legs unless I'm really tired or exhausted. I get a lot of burning back pains still but not near the level it had been prior to recovering.

Just keep your chin up and move forward! Don't let the tremors bum you out! :)

Thank you very much ITGirl, wishing you a blessed recovery and you keep your chin up too :)

I have very very shaky hands and I am 3 years out of the hospital. It sucks for me although everyone else I have met with the shakes have pretty much recovered fully after a year or so.

I was diagnosed and treated for GBS early 07/14. I first noticed the symptoms in my hands, but the tremors didn't begin until October 2014. Sometimes it feels like my whole core is shaking, but the hands are most frequent, and becoming more pronounced. Sometimes I wake up and can't button my shirt. I can type with all 10 fingers and eat, prepare my food etc. But, I am an artist and my hands are highly skilled, it sucks. Hope it goes away.

Thank very much for your response Milo. Sorry it has taken me ages to say thank you! I am now 15 months down the road since the onset of my GBS and still have hand tremors. Some days worse than others. It is encouraging to hear other have recovered. I since hope you well on your way to recovery too. God bless.

Thanks Lily. Oh my gosh, I am sorry to hear you are having such awful tremors as an artist it must be very frustrating for you. You are in my prayers. My hand tremors are really bad some days and like you I have trouble doing things or can't do things at times, on other days they are not as bad but it is a constant just less pronounced at times. I sincerely hope we both recovery fully. :) I am 15 months down the line since the onset of my GBS. As I am sure you know GBS recovery takes time - it is SO slow. Let's stay positive and look forward not back. I wish you all the very best. God bless. Do keep in touch.

Hi Milo I replied to you message a just now but do not know what happened to it so here I am again. Thanks very much for your message sent in August. I am sorry for the tardy late reply to you. I sincerely hope your hand tremors are getting better. I am 15 months down the line since the onset of my GBS and the tremors are not getting any better yet. Some days are better than others. I pray you make a full recovery in time and hope our hand tremors go away. God bless.

Nutty I also am in the hand tremor club. I have always had a very slight tremor in my right hand, and though I had tremor in both hands, my right was far worse than my left, so perhaps GBS just exacerbates what is there sometimes.

I also had a buzz in my right index finger, was really weird. One of my muscles at the knuckle would always twitch, and when it did my whole finger would move. All is slowly resolving for me

Thanks Nutty. Guess I'll have to be patient. Getting a new symptom when I'm supposed to be getting better doesn't make much sense, but the whole nature of an "auto-immune" disorder is quite troublesome. Guess making sense isn't part of the equation. I too pray for your recovery, and for a cure some day.

Thank you Lily. I agree the nature of this GBS is troublesome, doesn't make much sense and affects people differently. We do have to be patient, take things one day at a time. Thanks for your prayers. I too pray for a cure. God bless.

Hi Nojabold - welcome to the club! I am thrilled to hear all is slowly resolving for you. We just have to be patient and pray the tremors go away. My left hand is worse than my right and I did not have shaky hands before GBS, the tremors came along shortly after the onset of my GBS. God bless.
