So my husband has been diognosed with GBS and I have a question. It seems like sometimes he has a little progress and then the next day he can't move that part at all but will have reflexes in different parts. For example last week he moved his arm about 4 inches, but had no reflexes in his feet. This week he can't move his arms at all and has reflexes in both feet. Two weeks ago he could open his eyes and focus for 2 seconds. He hasn't opened his eyes at for about 10 days. He used to slightly grimace when we turned him. Now there is totally no response at all in his face when we move him. Is this normal?
Hi
I can't speak with authority that this is supposed to be how this illness heals but it seems to be similar to the way my illness has progressed. I'm nearly a year in and have improved quite a bit (but still got a long way to go). My symptoms/progression seems to jump around and one day it'll be my face that is weird, the next day my face is fine and my hands will be burning. In the first few months I'd have all the symptoms all the time but now it's rare for me to be battling more than two or three broken bits at a time.
Good luck for your husband x
My GBS was a mild case but my symptoms also jump around and have the entire time. Even now, one day it will be my leg or the next day my arm or my back. The first few months for me I had a lot of symptoms all the time too with some more pronounced one minute than others. One of the first doctors I saw said that I had too many symptoms and that symptoms can't jump around like that. He said that it made no sense. I told him that I couldn't help what was happening to me. I told him that it didn't make sense to me either, but now it does. Most of my symptoms now at almost 4 months are lighter than before and also no more than a couple things at a time. No where near as debilitating.
Hope everyone keeps improving!
