Miller Fisher double vision

I am happy to report that after 9 weeks of double vision, I can see normal again. There is some difficulty focusing quickly on objects when I turn my head. For what its worth, here is what I think helped me:

Vitamin D3

Vitamin B super complex

20 mg of Prednisone (30 day tapered) 6 days left.

I also have a great team of Physical Therapist all trained and knowledgeable in GBS. They finish my sessions with an online website called EYECANLEARN.COM >tracking.

go to Tracking Saccades. It can get boring but I believe it worked for me.

Hope this is of help to others experiencing double vision.

Hi

Do yo still get loss of sight or double vision when you are run down and tired as an effect of having GBS?
I do
It’s got better with time - but I got super tired on Sunday and I just lost most of my definition in my vision for the rest of the day

It’s so weird

Yes, the eye muscles do get a little weaker as the day goes on. Going to movies was almost like wearing 3D glasses but now I sit near the front and make my eyes track the screen. Good exercise for them.

I had double vision too and had to take a medical leave from work because I couldn't see and could barely walk. I had my eyes checked and they said my eyes were fine but I still couldn't see. No one understood or would believe me either at the time. It was so incredibly frustrating! My vision improved as I got better. It would, however, get worse through the day and I would have to wear readers later in the day. Some days I don't need them and some days I do at work if I have overdone it. And it's not just if I overdo it by overusing my eyes. Working out or running more affects it. It's the strangest thing. I never wore glasses at all before this. I finally got some prescription glasses while my eyes were doing all of that and I can't see anything with them because my vision got better. I guess I'll ditch the lens when my eyes get worse down the road from age and reuse the frames. I'm a year and a half out and still can tell I have some deficits from the hit on my facial nerves and eyes but life is so much better and I can see.

Thanks for the information. I am still experiencing double vision. I cant take Prednisone, but my eyes are making small improvements. I have been dealing with double vision since November 27th. I hope it goes away soon. I am trying to get back to normal and go back to work full time. I walk around with one eye closed.

Hope it returns soon for you. I did the pirate eye thing too.

Great Thread

I too had DV early w my GBS and a "young" Neurologist said it wasn't a symptom of GBS.

Thank God (literally) for this forum and the Mayo Clinic list of symptoms.

My Q: Does the DV put one in or close to the Miller Fisher wing of GBS or is it a common/general symptom of GBS?

Back when I was diagnosed, there was not a "Miller Fisher" diagnosis that accompanied GBS. I did experience those symptoms as well and my neurologist then told me that the vision issues were an expected possible symptom of my GBS. So I only learned that there was a separate diagnosis of Miller Fisher from this forum. Not sure what defines the separate diagnosis, but double vision, migraine headaches, and blurred vision all accompanied my GBS and I was told that was expected. My vision did return to normal eventually, but I still get the migraines.
