I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before, my apologies for the repeat if that's the case.
As many (or all) of you may be aware, GBS can be triggered by a number of things. One cause is from vaccinations (of any sort, but mainly flu vaccine). If you live in the US, and you have GBS caused by a vaccine, you may be able to recoup some or all of your losses from this illness from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Fund. This fund was started by the US government back in the 1980s, when a connection between vaccines and a number of illnesses was made. The government established this fund to compensate those who have been injured by vaccines. (GBS is one of the illnesses recognized as being caused by vaccines.) Filing a claim is like making an insurance claim, it's not actually suing the government or the drug company.
I'm just posting this for information's sake, not to make any recommendations or give advice. I'm not connected in any way with any legal or government body, just a private citizen. I was unaware of this program until my wife happened upon it by accident when looking for general GBS information, and I thought others may find it useful.
