Supplements for CMT1a

Are there good supplements for CMT1a? Intrestingly we find three supplements among strong medications on Pharnexts patent page at point 0015:

http://www.google.com/patents/EP2211846B1?cl=en

They are L-Carnitine (acetyl-L-carnitine?),Curcumin and Betaine (Trimethylglycine). All others at point 0015 are strong medications.

The list at point 0015 contains medications which decreas in some extent PMP22 protein levels in Schwann cells.

WOW, this is the most information I have ever seen on this!

It's going to take me a while to get through this as illness has robbed me of my ability to process anything lengthy or this advanced, but we cherish any and all hope!

Thanks a thousand for this, HM!

Hi HM,

Here is a discussion we had about vitamins and many of the members shared their supplements here.

Hi SK,

Thank you very much for the link. Those medications on Pharnexts list are called pmp22 protein modulators, so, this way I was very confused when I saw L-Carnitine, Curcumin and Betaine on the list of modulators which normally are kept as supplements. (Curious enough, there is D-sorbitol too on that list which is a sugar.)

Hi HM,

I was surprised about the sugar too, however I ran across an article of how sugar has been used to heal wounds. Not sure if it's an old wives tale or not, not sure if it relates to your info in any way, but it's interesting!
