My equilibrium when sitting and standing is bad. Did anyone experience this and how long did it last?
great question. I'm not sure what others have experienced.
Yes I have the same problem, plus rubber band legs when sit for a little bit and then have to get up.

Hi GBSGuy...
I have a few questions if you don't mind. Where you (or are you being) treated with steriods? If so, are you still taking them?
I am a GBS survivor and I did have a difficult time with my balance during my recovery. One of the things that could be happening is that you could be retaining fluids (from the steroids) which are pressing on the eustachian tubes (your balance center). You can try microwaving a moist cloth (for 45 seconds) and placing it over the ear to see if it will release any fluid. Lean into it, so if it does relase... it will just pour out. Another thing you can try is to place your head between your knees and gently rotating you head until your ear is parallel with the floor.
They didn't treat with steroids back when I was diagnosed. I actually taped a straight line on the floor and walked it. Backwards at first because it was easier. It may sound silly, but I really worked that line until I could land a back walkover perfectly.
How are you feeling now. Have things gotten any better for you?

I couldn't sit or stand at all for a month. Physical therapy eventually got me sitting and standing/walking. I practice balancing all the time now to improve it. I think for me it was mostly tied to muscle strength vs inner ear. My balance got better as I got stronger.

Thank you, I think mine is mostly tied to muscle strength too. I’ll give it more time and see.

Hi, I never was treated with steroids. I think muscle strength is the majority of my problem. I’ll have to give it more time and see. Thank you for the tips, I may try them. I feel good but I have a lot of numbness throughout my body, hands, legs, feet, that really concerns me because it has been 19 months. I’m hoping it gets better.
