Cerebral spinal fluid

Is there anyone out there who has been diagnosed with CIDP but the protein in their CSF was normal? I am trying to figure out if normal protein levels mean you definitely CANNOT have CIDP, or if it is just one piece of the puzzle and it can be normal when you srill have the disease. Thanks for the help, jo

I cannot quote exactly what my protein level was, but the doctors at Barnes said it was the highest level they had ever seen or even heard of before. They said it was like 3000 times higher than normal.

Yes!

My levels were normal and I do have CIDP. I had the spinal tap 3 years prior to finally being diagnosed in 2006. My current neurologist is not a fan of spinal taps and i go along with that for sure! Very very painful and in my case not necessary as he diagnosed me without one. It may be of use for some CIDP folk of course.
