Is Axonal Damage Permanent?

My 13 yo daughter has Axonal damage in both shoulders (scapula winging) from CIDP. IVIG has stopped the pain and while she is on it she gets no further damage. (Neuro extended it for 2 weeks and she got more damage).

My question is: Does anyone know if Axonal damage is permanent? She has had some of this damage for 2 years now and it hasn't improved at all.
