IVIG & Hair Loss

Hi there! I'm new to the board but not to CIDP. I was diagnosed in June '08 and have been on IVIg since August '08.

I was wondering if any of you have noticed excessive hair loss since starting IVIg? If so what brand of IVIg are you on? And did it stop at any point?

I’ve been receiving Gamunex C every two weeks for 1.5 years and I’ve noticed body hair loss. My eyebrows have thinned, my armpits are bald, my chest and belly hair (and lower) is sparse. My lower legs have almost no hair.

I also receive Solumedrol infusions. I take Tramadol and Gabapentin.

I was on Gamunex for 9 months of treatments and I lost all the hair on my legs.

I've always had hair loss long before the CIDP and IVIG came along and I haven't noticed any increase in hair loss since then. The brand of IVIG I get is Grifols. I was noticing the other day that I have areas on my lower legs where hair doesn't grow as fast and I believe that to be due to poor circulation, but who knows! Maybe you need your thyroid levels checked.
