New to area, looking for a neurologist

I have moved to the Atlanta , GA area and I am looking for a neurologist with experience with cidp. I was diagnosed with cidp in December , 2013. At that time I was living in southern Maine. I went thru 9 months of IVIG treatments from Dec, 2012 to Aug, 2014. The treatment did not improve my condition. We moved to the Peachtree City area of Georgia in Oct, 2015 and I am scheduled with my first appt. with a neurologist in Newnan, GA. Would to make contact with someone in the metro Atlanta area who might have cidp or know of someone in the area who does, that might be willing to share their experiences.

Hi, mikemc

Welcome here. Something that you may want to do is go to MEMBERS in the shortcut bar above, and then do a search for Georgia or GA or Atlanta or Peachtree. You may well find someone near you, and then be able to contact them to ask for recommendations.

You should also go to the DISCUSSION section, scroll down and have a look in the "Recommend a doctor ..." section.

We're glad that you found us, and we hope that you will be as well.

Thanks for tip.

Any luck, Mike?

Yes, I actually had a. Visit to a neurologist in Newnan, GA. I saw a woman, Dr Goli, who is part of the Piedmont medical group which very big down here. She was very thorough and has experience with cidp. She had not had a chance to review all my medical records from the The Northeast, all 512 pages of them. She wants to do plasmapheresis ( I had 9 months of IVIG while living in Maine, with no improvement)and I am a type 2 diabetic. She wants me to have an MRI and an exam from a nephrologist. she also started me on imuran.

Sounds like you found someone great & are on the right track!! Best of luck to you :)

That's great, Mike. Now let's hope that you can get the answer to your plasmapheresis question. Does the doctor's office not know the answer to that question?

I use Dr. David Williams, Sandy Springs. He’s with Laureate Medical Group. No complaints, and my experience/perception is the he’s very familiar with CIDP, front line treatment options, and expected side effects thereof. The staff there are excellent. Dr. Williams promptly completes health care & disability paperwork. I hope you find a doctor who is to your liking and gets you relief soon.
