In Maryland, you can't beat azaleas, can you? Magical.
My favorite are the blue bonnets in the Texas hill country. I moved to West Texas and we don't have many at all.
Ah! Those are beautiful!
Oh yes, azaleas! But you know, the winters get them here! Guess maybe I should have covered them.
I love Lilacs, I am concerned that we may not see them this year as it won't quit snowing in northern Minnesota! this winter is way too long here
Oh, I saw that you got blasted again! I was complaining about pouring rain, sleet and a few flakes of snow yesterday, but you have much more cause than I! Tough winter!
We had a huge lilac, my husband got on a step ladder went after it with a chain saw, and I think he killed it! GRRR!
It is so cold and blustery here. I long to sit by a lake and listen to the loons and watch the fire flies ( notice I mentioned nothing about our HUGE mosquitoes that will drive a person batty.... anyway.....I can't believe someone would hack a lilac tree, they are not around for long here maybe a month so we cherish them. They can get big though and need trimming.
There were lilacs just coming into bloom in Berlin last week. I kept walking over to take a whiff. I love that scent.
We have butterfly bushes in the front of our house, but it turns out that these were not the best choice as the branches are very brittle to touch or movement. We get considerable winds here, I wanted a wind mill, but there's just not enough land.
Done over again, we would have chosen lilacs, mock orange, crepe myrtle...but you know what they say about hind sight! Yes, heavenly scent!
You know, it's really the only thing he's 'hacked up' like that, it was so over grown with so much dead in it when we bought the house, and he kept fooling with it, and finally one day, he just 'attacked it'!
Hey, there are new 'sticker repellents', I found some at the grocery store for the grand kids.

I am going to have to look for these sticker repellents the next time I am out and about
Dear SK :
I love all of the beautiful flowers of spring. they remind me that life is an everchangng cycle, flowers grow during the spring for us to admire, they stay with us during the summer and into the fall, then they rest during the winter. Proving that life is a struggle, but just like the flowers, they have rest during the winter, and return to us during the spring, The flowers go through a tough time being reborn, and our various forms of C.M.T., are like the flowers rebirth, our muscles rest for a time, then are reborn again.
Jayme
How beautiful, Jayme! I’m so glad to hear from you. I think you were the first person to respond to me here at CMT, my first friend.
I can certainly appreciate your analogy, and am a fan of your prose. Another thing that comes to mind for me is a gladness that we lovingly planted these trees, flowering shrubs, and flowers for the future, and watch them grow.
My favorite tree is actually an Eastern Redwood, which is similar to a hemlock. It drops it’s soft needles in the winter. Though it has no blossoms, it moves so gracefully in the breeze, and I love it’s rarity. It adapted to live in a climate too cold for it’s tolerance.
I hope that you are well and happy, and that you’ve been able to enjoy a few good baseball games.
Wishing you well,
sK
Dear SK,
Hello my friend, I think I was the first to respond t your e-mail. We are like the eastern redwood, rare, because we have a relatively unheard disease of C.M.T.. And although there are apparently several forms of this unheard of diagnoses, this is not as commonly known as its sister disease, Multiple Sclorosis, or MD. When I say commonly known, I mean that when one tells others of this disease, they automatically say " You mean M. D., is that correct ? ". See, unknown.
Jayme
Yes, this really is a rare disease, most people on Bens' Friends, even with similar symptom diseases are totally unfamiliar with CMT, but I'm helping to change that! I've met a lot of people on the various groups of BFs so I can help get the word out that way!
You have to realize that these days, unless there is a medicine advertised on TV for a specific disease, people just stay unfamiliar with it!
I like my rare friends that I am making here, and Jayme, you will always be my first!
Sending a hug,
SK
My Dear friend :
We have totally rae forms of this disease called Charcot-Marie-tooth. And what makes us so rare is : that almost no one, including our doctors, the so-called " Professionals-who are supposed to be experts on this condition ", YEAH RIGHT!!!!! has ever heard of this. But that's okay, because this is what makes us so unique. We have Something that no one else, hopefully, will ever have. We are pioneers, and are TRUE experts in a strange, very strange, field. By experts, I mean ONLY we, you and I, know what truly happenes to our bodies. We go see our doctors, true, but the doctor does NOT truly understand what is happening to us. Why is this ? This is because he/she does not have what we were cursed with. That is why I said only you and I really know what OUR own suffering is like.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a party pooper, or ruin a nice day, or feel sorry for myself, but other than for our C.M.T., we are people, not GUINEA PIGS for experimental drugs. Doctors listen to us complain to them, and then they want us to take more pills to lighten the pain. This NEVER WORKS!!!!! But we continue to see them because they are " Experts " in their respective fields.
Keep writing, my friend, it's always good to hear from a friend,
big hugs,
Jayme
Dear Jayme,
I can only understand how frustrating this must be to all of you, as an outsider looking in. There are some meds and treatments available for most of what ails me, but sometimes the consequences are drastic.
Magneto Man has put out some interesting info, he just may have something there! He is one to watch!
Hope you are having a very good day,
SK
Dear SK :
HAPPY EASTER!!!!!! Friday started out just beautifully, it truly was a good Friday. In the morning, I worked out, then had breakfast, did a bit of work on the computer, then worked out again, because I had to meet with our activities coordinater to talk about putting together a group of the residents who would like to create a community garden. Julie was very impessed with this idea, and she said that she will discuss this with our landlords. When I got back to my apartment, I recieved excellent news, my new power wheelchair was to be delivered, ( and it was ). I was so excited,
then, son-of-a-gun, I got another attack of this silly paralysis, but this one did not even hurt. I was able to clean up my messy apartment, ( not that anyone could tell ) so I just watched baseball and DVD'S the rest of the day.
I'm so glad that I can talk to you about these things, you seem genuinley interested.
Jayme
I'm so glad you had a good day, Jayme. :)
Thank you Jayme, I genuinely am interested!
I have always loved to dig in the dirt and grow a few things. My husband built 3 raised garden beds for us, (these are much easier on bad backs) and we grow onions, red bells, green beans, squash, cherry tomatoes for the kids to pick off the vine, have a little strawberry patch for them too. My husband also built a gorgeous grape arbor, the concords were here and he added white and red grapes, oh, and I have a kitchen garden for herbs. I don't cook like I used to, but when I do, it's good! Oh hope he grew me some carrots and some radishes for the grandson!
They love to take part in this, and are so thrilled to watch it grow, and are over the moon when it's time to pick it! ha! They were out with Pap today turning over the soil with the little shovel I bought them! ha! I try not to ever refuse them when they want to come, grandmothers should always have an open door!
New wheels! Cool! You can fly around now! Look out!
You'll have to let me know how the garden plans go! I think it will do you all nothing but good!
Big hugs back,
SK
