I am about six months from mr GBS and am now experiencing extreme fatigue and back pain. Having trouble keeping my body erect without pain. Haven’t been able to find help. Thanks for listening. Eileen
Eileen, have you joined our Fibro community yet? There is a link to kit in the righthand column of the Main Page. You should be able to get help there with a doctor recommendation. I hope you feel better soon.
Eileen,
I hope you've had physical therapy for the back pain?
I'm 3 1/2 years after GB and my posture has become a problem too. It's a vicious cycle as when I get tired, I slump forward. Then with the slumping my back pain gets worse. A removable shoulder brace has been helpful, as it helps to keep my shoulders pulled back. I also think that water aerobics and the "Curves" program have helped a lot. I take ibuprofen occasionally when I anticipate that an activity will be taxing. Frequent rest periods on the heating pad, prayer, time and diversions help too.
Hi Eileen,
Six months in is just starting the recovery period, so be patient. If you aren't working with a physical therapist, I recommend it. Find an exercise regimen that you can stick with, and do it daily. Ibuprofin is our friend. Plus, get lots of rest and drink lots of fluids.
Good luck!
Hey Eileen
Hope you feel good soon. My brother is still paralyzed from his neck down. We have a long road still ahead of us before we even start with his physical therapy. Thanks .
When I was in the hospital a nurse with Fibromyalgia recommended that I get a Dr. Ho machine (like a TENS machine) for the nerve pain that I was having as she would use it for her pain each night. It does not "cure" nerve pain, but it kind of blocks it out. I found it very helpful in getting to sleep.
