Hi does anyone have experience with taking antibiotics after having GBS? I should take some now, but I am afraid to get another attack of GBS.
I wouldn't worry too much about antibiotics. However, make sure that it really is necessary for your condition since doctors have a tendency to throw them at things carelessly, and make sure to take probiotics of some kind afterward to repopulate the good gut bacteria that may have been killed. Gut health has been linked to autoimmune conditions and is the "new frontier" in a lot of ways.

Thank you for your answer, Nostromo, I think you are right. The antibiotic in this case is necessary because my left eye doesn´t heal properly after surgery.

Considering the fact almost all GBS cases report the person having had a prior Infection of some sort before the GBS symptoms appeared I would take the antibiotics as long as it is in response to a confirmed infection.
The reply by Nostromo is correct in that a lot of patients demand antibiotics at the drop of a hat OR the prescribing MD wily nily prescribes them so as not to have to bother either actually evaluating the patient for even having an infection or because they don't want to be bothered with phone calls after hours, on weekends and holidays when a patients thinks there might be an infection. Cold but.... real world.
I also concur with taking a Probiotic esp when you are on antibiotic therapy for a confirmed infection in the body to better protect the gut.
I took my dosis of antibiotics and supported it well, no side effects and mostly, no getting worse with GBS, So everything ok, thank you!
I’ve had a penicillin course twice, once In IV form in the early days of GBS for pneumonia and once for a vicious sinus infection, both without complications.
