Is hip dysplasia one of the challenges you face with CMT? Does PT help?
Yes.
I had that. Was the purpose for my first hip surgery. PT won’t help until it’s repaired.
I have it and regularly go for osteopathic manipulation and chiropractic adjustment, which are both temporary (but much appreciated) fixes.
Sorry to hear that you also have to contend with this! It was something I came across while doing some research on my own hip pain.
I don't know if this fits but,im 57 and recovering from my 2nd hip replacement in 3 years, ive had cmt for most of my
life and around 43 yrsold I started to really suffer from the effects of my college fb years and 34 yrs of construction.I was always an over achiever in spite of my running style being horrible at best.I really feel that once your joints start to fail take heed, which I didn't, and find ways to assist your brokenness, which I did too late. With cmt ive had over 13 surgeries, each surgery has its own uniqueness on how the cmt react to everything...not fun.....Sorry about getting off subject but if you feel symptoms of pain in these areas do all one can to avoid the issues I didn't. Joint replacement surgeries ,for me ,haven't been fun.

Hi mrmustard,
I really admire your extraordinary drive and accomplishment, and am so sorry to know that you have had to go through hip replacements so young! I've helped my mom through a broken hip, and my late mother in law through hip replacement, and learned enough to know I don't want to go through anything like it!
I don't think I would survive in a nursing home, even for several weeks, but I guess in the end, we do what we have to!
I watched the documentaries on the football players, and most recently the one about Namath. His was the knee replacements. but these guys did not have CMT!
I hope that PT and OT will get you to a good place with this latest new hip and hope that you will soon be all the better for having it done.
Wishing you a successful recovery,
SK
