Interaction

I have become friends with many people both CIDP and GBS on face book it has been a blessing to share humor and laughter . I would invite any that would like to connect on another level to seek me out . I push to maintain a healthy level of laughter and sarcasm . I just believe you have to laugh to heal. : )

I am glad you are enjoying connecting with others, Robert. Humor definitely helps, doesn't it? Feel free to bring a little humor here to the network, too (while staying within our guidelines, of course).

Ok as a kid I always read certain portions of my fathers readers digest. Specifically life in these United States . So recently while returning from a cruise through Alaska my wife and I arrived back in Seattle and found our way to the airport terminal by way of a luxury vehicle. Upon arriving our driver unloaded my wheelchair and I graciously move myself to it with the grace of a rhino. This was not uncommon as I am over 6’6" tall and slightly in excess of 250 pounds. This being said our luggage was unloaded and placed on a cart and my wife pushed the luggage as I rolled myself into the terminal. Being a large man I ask if one of the nearby attendants could point the way to wheelchair assistance . Of course. And a young strong individual was summons where I promptly ask for assistance and was informed assistance would be provided. A few moments latter a little Ethiopian woman arrive to assist. You must keep in mind my insurance companies wheelchair provider had gone to great lengths to find me a wheelchair to fit my size. This was a high back wheelchair with long extended legg rest. Unfortunately this model only comes with what appears to be hand brakes but in reality are releases to allow the chair to fully recline. So to imagine what this picture looked like in real time a woman unable to see over the back of the high back wheelchair weigh little more than 80 pounds is trying to maneuver a runaway wheelchair down a ramp when she presses the releases attached to the handles and instead of slowing the wheelchair she engages the reclining mechanism. Only in these united states can an 80 pound Ethiopian woman be seen chasing a very large Caucasian man down a wheelchair ramp in a runaway wheelchair while he is laying flat on his back.

Haha, Robert, that's a good one. You are pretty much my dad's size, by the way. :) Did you ever play foootball?

I was never a one to play sports . My family struggled when I was young so I worked full time at a young age. Many skilled people taught me allot at a young age.

I'm glad you're enjoying the connections you've made, but I myself am looking to make connections in Canada and maybe start a site like this there. Gary

Good story, Robert!

Think of the letter this Ethiopian woman sent to her relatives back home. In her letter I'm sure you became 7' 6", weighed 350 pounds and only by the grace of God she saved you at the last minute... or maybe you both flew out of the plane and landed on the tarmac with her hanging on for dear life right behind you! LOL!
