I have a medical book that seems to indicate that CIDP is a form of GBS, sort of as if it's under the umbrella of GBS, so to speak. Is this correct? Or is it just related to GBS in that there are similar mechanisms?
CIDP is basically a recurring form of GBS, GBS usually occurs once often with A long recovery phase where as CIDP is more prevalent and has cycles of symptom onset and deterioration and requires more long term management
GBS is a syndrome that hits hard and takes months to recover from. CIDP is a much severe form of GBS that is actually a disease of your immune system attacking itself, you can have bouts of relapses with short recovery times or long recovery times. CIDP is a disease that does not go away like GBS does.
