Ten months into my diagnosis and have been unaffected, down a long way and now doing relatively well - isn't everythig relative with this disease? Nowhere near back at work but well ambulant and relatively pain free as well - very grateful
Wonder if anyone has had experience with senstive teeth - to cold/ice- on prednisolone and methotrexate plus Kiovig? Been on the latter 10 mths and the other 2 for 5 mths but the teeth senstivity only just started. Will try some sens toothpaste.
Sleep is pretty absent as well and my GP has suggested Circadin rather than Temazapem. It has 2mg of melatonin (that is the active ingredient which is a normal body hormone and is slow release) but when he and I looked up the precautions, the first thing that came up was auto immune disease so we decided not to try it. Will check with the neurologist when I see him but wondered if anyone has had experience with it?
Circadin is currently approved for use in Europe and several Asia-Pacific territories. It's active ingredient, melatonin, can be found mostly in non-prescription products. If sleep is a major issue, your neurologist may want to consider trazodone or Elavil, which would help with sleep, and may also help with the sensitive teeth.
There are many other agents as well, but unless you have contraindications, one of these would be my next agent of choice.
Thanks Mayberry. I have been thinking and, becasue of the melantonin ingredient and the issue with sun exposure when on seroids, is the reason it is contraindicated. But will ask about the Elavil - thanks for the advice
I also experience sensitive teeth. I never related it to my CIDP. I just thought I had sensitive teeth. Maybe it is realated? Is this a common effect of CIDP? Some weeks my teeth are way worse than other. I got a prescription sensitive toothpaste from my dentist and use is only when I am experiencing a sensitive teeth flare up. It usually subsides after a week or two. What causes the sensitivity in CIDP? Is it a nerve flare up?
I have tried using senstive teeth toothpaste so early days. I didn't know whether it was the CIDP or the meds - who knows with this disease but it is frustrating.
