Does anyone else have sudden unexplained jerking. If I am resting all of a sudden an arm or kegs jerk. The jerks will lift my legs off the bed.
Myoclonic jerking is common with nerve damage its the brains way of jump starting you if it thinks something isn't working properly because its not receiving the correct signals
I have that jerking all the time in my legs and arms. But I have been told there is nothing wrong with me, it's all in my head! My drop foot, bad EMG/NVC, every other test normal, the severe pain, the slurring when I talk. Yup, faking it all. I even had to see a neuro psychologist last week and undergo a lot of testing on cognitive ability, memory, etc.
I have had what feels like rubber bands being stretched and popped in my hands and feet for over a year. Especially when I am tired or waiting for the Baclofen to kick in ( take 80 mg. a day). If I have over exerted myself it can be worse. I stay alert when I walk or I will trip. The worst is when I have the tremors in the left side of my face and tongue. Soooo irritating!
There is hope my IVIG is helping the jerking I have is like signals that are starting to be recieved and take hold. . I got a reflex back in my right knee that has been gone over a year. The pain seems more intense like something is trying to wake up.
Mine is more like a shiver and jerks my whole upper body. It usually happens after I have been doing something like cooking dinner then after I sit down at the table and my body is at rest it happens. My family has decided to when this happens they do the wave of their own shivers around the table. We all laugh it off. It is a bit anoying when I am around people that do not know I do this and ask me if I'm ok or cold. My Dr. said same thing...misfires of the nerve singals. I'm glad to hear it is not just me and Jordan it is NOT in your head! Take each little symptom in stride, put out the fires as that happen and keep moving. I know I also tend to have more of them during the week before my IVIG....I get it every 4 weeks and have been for the last 4 years.
Hi ctcidp, yes, misfires. I have lots of jerking on my right arm. My bicep is more formed than the left bicep. lol. But, at night when resting, I have jerking in my core, my legs and arms. My jaw jerks at times and I often bite my tongue. Way in the back on the side. Weird place ouch.
Hi Jordan, I went thru this too. During ER visits I was told it was in my head. I went to a neurologist in another city. He listened to what I explained was happening. He did a neuro exam and I past. But, he also ordered blood work, lumbar puncture, and an EMG test. All confirmed CIDP. So keep pressing Jordan until you get a diagnosis.

I experience these when I am in remission and I consider them a good sign of nerve/muscle communication... but it is probably another chronic diseaze (kidding).
